The Prince of Wales celebrates climate tech innovation at Sustainable Ventures
We had the pleasure of welcoming The Prince of Wales to our London workspace, a central hub for the UK’s climate tech revolution.
Andrew Wordsworth, CEO & Managing Partner at Sustainable Ventures, introduced The Prince to member company chiefs working on groundbreaking innovations to tackle climate change.
These included Gunnlaugur Erlendsson, founder of ENSO, a company that make tyres designed to reduce air pollution. ENSO is a 2023 finalist of The Prince’s Earthshot Prize in the "Clean Our Air" category. Notpla, also part of the Sustainable Ventures community, won last year's prize in the 'Build a waste-free world' category for their packaging made from seaweed. Winners receive a £1 million grant to help grow their business.
The Prince also met:
Agnes Czako, CEO of AirEx, who make smart ventilation units that improve energy efficiency;
Aadil Qureshi, CEO of Skoon, who design carbon-free home energy systems run by algorithm;
Ehab Sayed, CEO of Biohm, a biomanufacturing firm that creates building material from food waste;
Maria Raga, ex CEO of Depop, the pre-loved and vintage clothes marketplace app;
Brian Allen, CEO of Rovco, provider of subsea robotics and hydrographics in offshore energy; and
Anthony Baker and Tobias Reinicke of SatVu, who developed a satellite dubbed “the world’s thermometer”
As well as touring the workspace, The Prince took part in a discussion with other startups who aim to scale and maximise impact on the problems they are trying to solve.
“The Prince of Wales is known for his dedication to sustainability. It’s inspiring for Sustainable Ventures’ members to know that someone of his influence understands that they need to scale to have impact in the next decade. He has shown by his actions that we need optimistic solutions in a world dominated by negative headlines.”
